“We will strengthen economic cooperation by developing joint projects with the TRNC”

The All Global Business World Association (TÜMGİŞ), established with the vision of accelerating Turkey’s transformation into a developed nation through entrepreneurship and ensuring Turkey becomes a major economic power by enhancing its competitiveness within the global economy, paid a visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). TÜMGİŞ Board of Directors Chairman Şanser Kadooğlu stated that stronger steps could be taken to create new investment opportunities and increase financial cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC, noting that they wish to work to strengthen the economic development of both countries and establish sustainable trade bridges between the TRNC and Turkey. Noting that their discussions were extremely positive, Kadooğlu said, “As TÜMGİŞ, we are ready to provide any support necessary to achieve the common goals of Turkey and the TRNC. In particular, by developing new business models and joint projects in strategic sectors, we can further strengthen the economic and social ties between the two countries.”

Following its visit to Qatar, the Board of Directors of the All Global Business World Association (TÜMGİŞ) paid an official visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The TÜMGİŞ delegation met with TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Acting President and Speaker of the Republic Assembly Ziya Öztürkler, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Finance Minister Özdemir Berova, Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Transport and Public Works Erhan Arıklı, Gönyeli Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, and the Turkish Cypriot Women Entrepreneurs Association (GİKAD).

“We want to develop new business models in strategic sectors.”

TÜMGİŞ Chairman Şanser Kadooğlu, explaining that TÜMGİŞ—founded in 2023—is a business association established through the voluntary participation of Turkey’s leading entrepreneurs and business leaders, and that it was founded with the vision of accelerating Turkey’s transformation into a developed nation through entrepreneurship, stated that their visit to the TRNC was extremely positive and opened the door to new business collaborations.

Kadooğlu, noting that TÜMGİŞ’s visit to the TRNC was not only significant for developing new and strategic business models but also for serving the bond of brotherhood between the two countries as the business community, assisting in this effort, and building bridges, said: “The All Global Business World Association is fully aware of the TRNC’s geographical position at the center of the Europe-Africa-Asia triangle as it strives to achieve the goals embodied in its name. Despite the embargoes in place, we believe that utilizing the TRNC’s geographical advantages as a business community is crucial for supporting the policies of the Republic of Turkey regarding its ‘motherland.’ In response to the TRNC government’s reception at the highest level, we will work to fulfill our responsibility by implementing the necessary projects in the relevant sectors where they are needed. We believe this visit should be viewed as the seeds of a new beginning that will yield concrete results.”

Emphasizing that TÜMGİŞ is ready to provide every kind of support to achieve the shared goals of Turkey and the TRNC, Kadooğlu stated, “In particular, by developing new business models and joint projects in strategic sectors, we can further strengthen the economic and social ties between the two countries. I believe that the meetings we held in the TRNC will lay an important foundation for strengthening the relationship between the business community and diplomacy and for taking concrete steps toward our shared goals. There is a strong relationship between Turkey and the TRNC, shaped by historical ties. We are working to transform these friendly ties into stronger collaborations across all fields, and we particularly aim to create a foundation where the business community can play a more active role between the two countries.”

We want to contribute to the economic development of both countries

Speaking on behalf of TÜMGİŞ, Kadooğlu, who noted that the organization plays a significant role in the goal of increasing trade and investment with the TRNC, said the following:

“In this context, we aim to connect Turkish businesspeople with the opportunities offered by the TRNC and contribute to the economic development journey of both countries. We are delighted that the economic relations between Turkey and the TRNC are built on solid and sustainable foundations. As two sister nations, we believe we can take stronger steps to create new opportunities in the investment sector and enhance financial cooperation; we aim to contribute through new projects across a wide range of sectors, from tourism to industry. We believe that the investments to be implemented here with the support of the TRNC Ministry of Finance will provide significant benefits to both countries. In this context, we are confident that we can create further areas of cooperation to foster the development of mutual investment and trade.”

The TÜMGİŞ Delegation's Visits to the TRNC

As part of their visit to the TRNC, the TÜMGİŞ delegation first met with TRNC Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova. Emphasizing the importance of relations between the TRNC and Turkey, Berova noted that significant projects could be realized through agreements between the two countries and by businesspeople working together. Berova added that TÜMGİŞ would serve as a strategic bridge in this regard, given its vision and mission.

During its official visits, TÜMGİŞ also met with Olgun Amcaoğlu, the Minister of Economy and Energy of the TRNC. Following Amcaoğlu’s remarks emphasizing that Northern Cyprus expects support from Turkey, particularly in the energy sector, TÜMGİŞ stated that it is ready to cooperate, noting its desire to serve as a bridge between the two countries. The association, which believes that Amcaoğlu’s particular sensitivity regarding renewable and storable energy should be prioritized, stated that it would accelerate its efforts in this area.

During the visit to TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, the hardships experienced by the TRNC, particularly up until 1974, and the challenges it faced throughout its history were discussed. There was a consensus that the TRNC could only become a more prosperous country through the material and moral support of its motherland, Turkey, and through the contributions of businesspeople living in Turkey who invest in the TRNC and thereby add value to the country.

During TÜMGİŞ’s official visits to Northern Cyprus, Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the TRNC Assembly, clearly stated that international investments—particularly those backed by Turkey—are of great value to the “motherland,” and that they are willing to provide the association with every possible form of support in this regard.

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, while receiving the TÜMGİŞ delegation at his office, expressed his satisfaction with the visit, noting the warm hospitality of Northern Cyprus, and stated that they would support the innovative projects and investments to be developed by the delegation.

As part of TÜMGİŞ’s efforts to achieve its sustainable growth goals and become a globally influential economic player, one of the key stops on its visit aimed at this objective was a meeting with Erhan Arıklı, the Minister of Transport and Public Works of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Arıklı emphasized that one of the major driving forces behind Northern Cyprus’s development would be the Maraş region, which is set to open gradually after 46 years, noting that significant tourism revenue would be generated from the area to be rebuilt during this process, and that Turkish companies would play a major role in this effort.

TÜMGİŞ, which organizes events and training programs to increase women’s participation in the workforce, provide financial support to women entrepreneurs, raise their visibility in the business world, and share their success stories with a wider audience, also participated in the “Women in Business” summit organized by the TRNC GİKAD (Association of Women Entrepreneurs) as part of these efforts.
